Back in the Saddle
Just when it seemed I wouldn’t get to scoot again anytime soon… I did!
Our little doggie was somewhat better (and home with us) today, so this afternon, I got out for a quick round of errands on my scoot. Have I said how much I love my Genuine Buddy Series Italia scooter? Too bad… I’m saying it again! :)
First, off to D&B (a local farm store) to buy my mom a fleece vest she’d been wanting. Oops… they were on sale, so I got one for myself as well… PLUS I found a great Carhart sherpa lined canvas jacket that will be perfect for fall/early winter scooting and it was on sale too, so bought that too. OK, so back out to the scooter. I donned the new jacket and stuffed both my old fleece and the 2 new fleece vests under the seat.
Then… off to the bank to deposit some checks. So far, so good, then on to WalMart to pick up prescriptions for Mom. Parking is never a problem with a scoot. Most times, I can find some triangle or “dead” space close to the front door. Got the Rx at WalMart and stuffed that in a canvas bag I keep in the scooter, which I hooked over the hook on the dashboard… it rests between my feet as I drive.
One more quick stop at Walgreens for a 20 oz. bottle of Diet Coke to quench my thirst. Stashed that in the drink bin on the dashboard. Storage is phenomenal on my scoot!
Finally, back towards home, with the wind streaming past my face and just zipping along. Wonderful!

I’m sad. It’s been a beautiful sunny week and I haven’t been able to get out on the scooter since Monday. You see, my little shih tzu got into an Advil (we think) and has been very sick. Who knew one pill could do so much damage in her little body?
So, in addition to being primary caregiver for my elderly, ailing mother, now I’m also caring for a pup.
No time for scootin’, sad to say. Supposed to be nice this weekend… maybe I’ll get a ride in then…

We’re having some Indian Summer days here in beautiful Boise. Though we have had some cool, windy, wet weather of late, we’re in a small spell of 60s/70s temps and bright fall sunlight. Perfect days to scoot!
So, today, I decided to get out for an hour or two, just for fun. I’ve been riding the scooter all over town to run errands, visit my mom, etc., but I haven’t had much time to just ride for the joy of it of late. Today was that day.
I’m still a newcomer to Boise, having moved here only at the end of May, and still very much discovering the surrounding areas, though I know the main parts of town pretty well by now. I’ve been hearing about how beautiful Hill Road is, so I thought I’d take a gander.
I rode around for a while, turning as the spirit suited me to explore offshoot roads… fun. Then, I decided to take a turn up into the foothills past the landfill. Once I got on the road, there was no place to turn around or turn off, so I had to just keep going for at least 5 or 6 miles.
Soon, I started climbing up, up, up… to the very crest of quite a high foothill. Imagine my joy and wonder as I crested the hill to be greeted by a gorgeous vista of rolling foothills and wide open spaces (read: no homes or businesses). Wow! That sight made the whole trip.
Alas, not much time to enjoy the view as the road immediately began to descend into some pretty steep curves. It was a little hairy, for an inexperienced rider like me. Eyes on the road, and cars up my butt behind me. In a mile or two, I found a place to turn around and start heading home. I could have ridden all day, but I had to get back home and to work. Darn.
Ah… have I mentioned? I LOVE SCOOTIN’!

Hi Scooter Lovers & Scooter Wannabes,
Welcome to my online journal of the scootin’ life. I’m a relatively new convert to the world of motor scooters… but, I’m extremely passionate about scooting. I LOVE my scooter!
How about you? Are you currently engaged actively in scootin’ or are you just thinking about it? If you’re just thinking about it, I can tell you, it’s worth it! Scooters are, of course, an inexpensive way to commute and get around town. But they are also tons of fun to ride.
So far, there is nothing I can say that is negative about owning or driving a scooter. I am so glad I bit the bullet and made the decision to become a scooter owner. My Genuine Buddy is just that… my buddy!
In future days, weeks, and months to come, I’ll be posting on here about my scootin’ adventures… of which, I plan to have many. I hope you’ll join me… :)
And, won’t you also check out my new scooter information site at: www.Motor-Scooters-Guide.com?
Until next time, Motor Scooter Mama
