What’s New at Motor Scooters Guide
Hello out there if I still have any readers of this blog. Wow! I haven’t updated this in over six months. Where has the time gone? I didn’t realize it had been so long. Here’s the scoop…

I live a rather packed life. Besides the ongoing scramble to make a viable living online, I was serving as main breadwinner for quite some time, since my husband could only find part-time work as a teacher. So, for me, it’s been work, work, work! I love the work, but not much time for fun like writing this blog. Or even as much time for scooter riding as I’d like, even in nice weather. Boo…
In addition, I am caregiver for an elderly mother whose health has really failed over the past year. She has emphysema and even doing something seemingly simple like getting dressed has become a major struggle and energy zapper for her. So, again, more work for me… and worry.
On a happy note, my youngest daughter got married in October and is now pregnant too (my first grandchild!), so I’ve been tied up at times with traveling to see her in Texas, talking on the phone, helping her plan, etc. That’s her picture… isn’t she cute?
And then, on the happiest note… my main scooter site has really taken off over the past year! It’s an interactive site, with dozens of opportunities for people to post questions, submit scooter reviews and share stories about all things scooter. I have a huge community now, and I’m getting new postings in the dozens every single week. I love it, but it’s definitely time-consuming to keep up with it all, especially since some of my contributors don’t seem to understand the first thing about how to write in proper English. Haha…
So anyway, if you’re reading this, and you haven’t checked out my main Motor-Scooters-Guide.com website lately (or ever), go there now… and please… join in the fun! We’ll be glad to have you…

PS Yes, I’m still riding, though not lately, as I live in the mountain west and it’s been much too cold and wet to be safe or comfortable on the roads for the past couple months. At least in my opinion! I’m looking forward to spring… or at least springlike weather.
Here’s a picture of proud mama (me) with the bride and the maid of honor (my older daughter, Sarah):

Motor Scooter Community
What I’ve found since building my Motor-Scooters-Guide.com website is that “it’s all about community” or making scooter friends. My husband jokingly calls the people I’ve met through my website as “your online boyfriends and girlfriends”, but the truth is, I really have made some good friends here. People who care about me and each other, even though we never have and probably never will, meet in person.
I think that’s pretty cool. It wasn’t really my intent when I first built the site, but I’m definitely enjoying it. There are lots of opportunities to interact with other people on the site. You can ask or answer questions about motor scooters at Scooter Answers. And please… join in… there’s a lot I don’t know, especially when it comes to engine and mechanical stuff. So I can use all the help I can get!
You can leave a review of the scooters you’re familiar with at our Reviews section. Or comment on someone else’s reviews. Again, I need help here. I really only know my Genuine Buddy brand very well. I can find info on the Web, but I’d rather hear what you all have to say.
You can join our eScooter Club by submitting your profile… and then keep us apprised of your scooter adventures. Hey, I don’t get out as much as I’d like, so I love living vicariously through you. :) We’ve got 39 US members already (from every section of the country), as well as 1 member from Canada, 1 from Algeria, and 1 from Brazil. Join us!
Finally, I started a scooter forum a few months ago. Despite all the daily activity on the main site, the forum has been rather slow to get going. But it’s starting to pick up. So be sure you check in there at least weekly to see what’s new. Right now, it’s mostly Texas Boy talking, and I’m sure he’d love some company! So join the discussion there, won’t you?
I’ll close with this new picture submitted by eScooter Club member, Victor Kelly, in Phoenix, AZ, where apparently you can ride even in the winter (boo hoo):

Oh boy… The Motor-Scooters-Guide.com website has grown to the point that we can now support a discussion forum! So, let’s get the discussion going… you can talk to other readers who live in your area, who drive the same kind of scooter you do or you can just introduce yourself and/or ask questions about scooters, scooter maintenance or whatever you want.
So, let’s see if we can get some activity going, OK? I look forward to talking with you!

Well, if I still have any readers out there, here’s a big old apology. What with caregiving duties, keeping a business going and being the main breadwinner in my family, I kind of fell off the wagon for blogging about my scootin’ adventures. Oh yeah… I also got married in June!
The good news is, things are calming down in my life… I think. So, I’m going to make more of an effort to keep up with the blogging here. One thing I can tell you is that there is always new content on the site, every single week… new scooter reviews, new eScooter Club members and tons and tons of Scooter questions and Answers! So, check them out…
Also, in the very near future, I’m going to be making a couple of exciting announcements to subscribers to my mailing list and this blog. So stay tuned for some scooter fun…
Now, as to what I’ve been doing with my dear little Genuine Buddy scooter… well, riding, of course! I am still as much in love with my Buddy as ever. It is fun personified. My scooter is my main form of motorized transportation. I do a lot of walking and bicycle riding too, but when I need to go futher or get somewhere quicker (like Walmart to pick up prescriptions for Mom or food for dinner), I take the scoot.
No matter what the price of gas, I’ve never had to break the bank to fill up. I get great mileage and I am still managing to stuff unbelievable amounts of stuff in and on my scoot. I would love to have a topcase and rear rack, but so far haven’t been able to fit it into the budget. No matter… I am still carrying tons of stuff!
I’d also like to publicly recognize two important contributors to the scooter website. These two gentlemen have made so many valuable contributions, by adding scooter stories and answering all sorts of “gearhead” questions I’m not able to answer. Thanks guys… I really appreciate you and so do my readers! Their names are Ron Goldwyn and Jim Zeiser. Check out their profiles in the eScooter Club.
OK, for now, that’ll have to be enough. But look for those announcements within the next day or two!
Happy scootin’ Kathi

OK, I’m getting a little silly here, I know. But it’s been a long, hard, cold and wet winter here in Boise, Idaho and I’m sick of it. I haven’t been on my scooter in months and I miss it. There it sits in my garage, all alone and forlorn.
How about you? Have you been riding through the winter? Am I just a sissy for not wanting to venture out in 20-degree weather (before you measure wind chill)? Should I be riding on slushy, snowy roads?
When I bought my scooter, I thought I would ride all year round, at least the 2 miles between my mom’s house and mine. But then she came to live with me and we started having lots of snow (in a city we were told never has snow in the winter). Oh well, you can never tell what way life is going to take you. I no longer have to make that twice daily trip to Mom’s house. And I work from home, so I honestly don’t need to go out that often during the day by myself.
So, I am looking forward to spring, when balmy breezes and sunshine will motivate me to make runs to the store, the library or wherever. Until then, I’ll keep working…
Lots of New Motor Scooter Reviews on the Site
I have been guilty of not updating this blog in some time, I admit it. Life got in the way… what can I say? I’m back in the saddle again, now, though and I wanted to mention all the great new scooter reviews I’m posting on the site each month. Here are a few of the latest:
