Winter Ride Bonus
Woo hoo! I thought my poor little scooter was down for the count until Spring, but today it was 51 degrees, so I decided to take a ride while I could. OK, then the cold my husband battled all last week hit me like a freight train. So I wasn’t gonna go, but when I went outside to check the mail, it was so nice… and the first sunny day we’ve had in a couple of weeks.
So, I bundled my runny nose self into my scooter gear and went the 2 miles to our local river path. In Boise, we have 25 miles of paved path along the Boise River. A real local treasure. I live within walking distance (about a 10 minute walk), which is great, but today, I thought I’d ride my little scooter over to it.
Now, 50 degrees and sunny is a lot warmer when you’re walking out to the mailbox than it is when you’re riding. Still, I enjoyed the chance to be out on my scoot. It’s been several weeks of wet, snowy, rainy weather, and I missed it!
From the river, I can see the beautiful wintry, woods, tons of ducks and geese and our snow-covered foothills. I live in a beautiful area and the scooter allows me to enjoy it in a very different way than the car or truck.
So, thank you universe, for allowing me a brief respite to the awful January we’ve been having so far and getting out on my scooter, even if I am sick and even if I did only ride for 10 minutes!

Good on you Kathi. Thanks for the photos from your digs. I always try to imagine where other members are from and what their rides are like.In spite of the bleakness of winter it looks like you live in a beautiful landscape and nice riding country. I know just how you felt when you decided to ride after being cooped up. Between rains here I have been lucky enough to get in 2 – 3 short rides a week, but our rainy season is just beginning. The days are getting longer though. The sun no longer sets right at the end of my street. It is moving North little by little.Stay dry and warm. Thanks for writing.
Thanks, Bob. Yes, it is fun to see where other people ride. You’re right about the days getting longer… it does help. Looking forward to seeing your pics of your area soon. And the yellow mustard sounds gorgeous! We have NO color here. But our sun is shining again, so maybe another ride for me today!
Nice pictures of riding
