A Virtual Group Scooter Ride

I thought it might be fun if we all went on a virtual group scooter ride together one weekend. Not all of us live in an area where there are organized group rides or maybe we’re too shy to join a group on our own (me!).  My husband suggested I organize a group ride for my readers here and I thought it was a great idea.

Here’s the idea… I pick a date for the ride. Anyone who’s interested gets on their scooter and rides that day, either by themselves or with others. The ride is going to have to be a significant distance, say at least 10 to 25 miles and should take you somewhere you’ve never been before, or at least somewhere fun/interesting/beautiful. Then, after your ride, you come back here to the site and share your experience in a few paragraphs and pictures. That way we all get to share in each others’ adventures to some extent!

What do you think of this idea? Please use the Comments link at the top of the post to let me know, OK?

I’m looking forward to your input!

Happy scootin’

I’m excited about this idea, this will have us connected in a club way like never before. I look forward to reading about everyone’s trips on their pages and commenting. It’s like “kicking tires and telling lies” (as we used to call it) after a real group ride.

I’ll tell you how much I like this idea, I even propose a date. Two actually. In a couple of weeks it will be Labor Day. How about we have the ride on the Sunday before Labor Day with Labor Day itself as the alternate in case someone has work, family or weather related issues that interfer? Then we write about it on our spaces in our club member page? Anybody else think it’s a good idea?

  • The was a good idea to be involved with group or clubs. And if you want adventures through your scooter, that would be great and fun.Just enjoy but be careful

What a great idea. Let’s do it. A half dozen photos each would be nice too.
I am going to fly up to Portland and won’t be home until Sept 26. Then I’ll be ready to strap on the scooter and go.

    See you all there (?)

  • Did this ever take place? I never heard anything afterwords?

  • Oh, it kind of fell apart. I couldn’t get such a ride in during September due to bad weather and/or caregiving responsibilities. Then October’s cold weather set in here in the mountain west, and I kind of shelved it until the spring. But come spring, I’m going to get this going again! You CAN read about some of Jim Zeiser’s adventures here:

Kathi has posted photos from her ride and I posted some from mine back in October. My next ride will be South from Half Moon Bay. The first was North. I’m just waiting for Spring to sprung so you can see this part of the coast with a little more color. Right now the wild mustard is in bloom so there are fields of yellow all up and down the coast. The mustard was planted centuries ago by the Priests as they came up through California establishing the Missions. I’ll see if I can’t get a photo of the mustard that now grows wild.
