My Latest Accomplishment… 1000 Miles!

I’ve owned my scooter for just about 2 years now, and I just hit 1000 miles today, out running errands. You might say, “What the heck took you so long, Kathi?” and you wouldn’t be out of line. But for me it’s quite an achievement to get a 4-figure mileage on the odometer in my little Buddy.
You see, about 10 days after I got my scooter, my mother went into critical care and nearly died. Following that, she came to live with us. One of the reasons I’d justified getting a scooter was to travel back & forth to her house every day. So can that justification…
I work at home, so I don’t use it to commute. Basically, it’s just for running errands and joyrides. So it’s taken me all this time to accumulate my first 1000. Still, I’m thrilled to have done it. I now consider my scooter to be MY main mode of motorized transportation (I also walk & ride my bicycle quite a lot when I go somewhere.) I use it to go pick up prescriptions for Mom and mid-week groceries at WalMart, to get toiletries at Walgreens and other such errands. And, occasionally, like yesterday, I just go out for fun.
My scooter represents freedom for me. It’s one of the few times I get to be totally alone and also out from under (if only for an hour or two) the burden of caregiving. I love it!
So… onward & upward!

My name is Kathi, and I created this website to share my love for motor scooters and scootin'. Thank you for visiting. I hope you'll take the time to explore not only this blog, but also the rest of my site. There's lots of info here! You can
I can relate to what you’re saying Kathi. Years ago I used to have to travel about fifty miles round trip to work so I put about a thousand miles a month on my motorcycle during the good weather. Now I have a different set of circumstances and I’m lucky if I put two thousand miles a year on anything. I use the scooter to fetch groceries, Take Out and the occasional weekend ride. I hope one day to be riding distance again, but will settle for what I have right now.
Congrads on hitting 1,000 miles! Keep on riding!
I also relate, I bought my my first and only scooter, the Buddy 125, four months after my 62th birthday. I had planned this for over a year, I drew pictures, I visualized it. As you I just run errands and short joy rides. It has been used for only 90 miles and it sounds great.
Hope to hear more riding stories from you and other women with the same adventurous passion.
Yoly, That’s great! We do fall in love with these little motorized vehicles, don’t we. Glad you’re having fun…
